Description
Leather puppet lamp shades are decorative lamps made using the traditional art of leather puppetry from Andhra Pradesh, also known as Tholu Bommalata. In this craft, thin pieces of treated leather are carefully cut and painted with colorful designs inspired by traditional puppet figures and patterns. Artisans punch small decorative holes in the leather and paint it with bright natural colors. When a light is placed inside the lamp shade, the light passes through the colored leather and tiny holes, creating beautiful glowing patterns and shadows around the room. These lamp shades combine traditional folk art with modern home decor. They are not only useful for lighting but also help preserve the heritage and craftsmanship of leather puppetry. These lamps are done by an artist, Sindhe Mahesh, who is in the 7th generation. They are made in natural colour
